Behind my house in the quiet village lies a hill that I love to walk up. From the height, I see my small village leaning against the hill. I don't know why this landscape has such an impression on me. But I always stand there and recite to myself the ending of the Eighth Elegy from the Duineser Elegien by Rilke:
Whoever on
The last hill, which shows him once more his valley
Turns, stops, lingers -
So we live and always say goodbye.
