The Prinsenhof is a castle in the Hasselt borough of Kuringen and received its current name in the 18th century.
It is certain that already in the 13th century there was a motte on this place. The counts of Loon, who regularly clashed with their lord, the prince-bishop of Liège, opted for a more centrally located residence and often stayed here. In the meantime, the motte had been replaced by a castle with moat and four towers, probably from the 14th century. Gerard van Loon was the first to move to the Prinsenhof.
