The Fabrique de fer de Charleroi is a Belgian iron and steel company located along the Samber River in Marchienne-au-Pont. In 1863, Victor Gillieaux founded the company Victor Gillieaux et Cie, and in 1864 he received permission to establish a metallurgical company here. In 1873, this company was converted into a public limited company and was named Fabrique de fer de Charleroi, which it retained until it was absorbed by Usinor in 1997. Despite the corporate form, the majority of the shares remained in the hands of the Gilleaux and Dewandre families.
