Originally a early Gothic church from the late 13th century; the oldest parts (nave and choir) made of flint date from this period; possibly the nave was originally equipped with a wooden ceiling. The aisles are made of marlstone, but seem to be older than the transept, which dates from the mid-14th century. In the mid-15th century, several renovations were carried out; the stone vault probably dates from this period: this vault made the use of buttresses necessary, which in turn required adjustments to the windows of the aisles. A construction campaign from 1706-1719 resulted in the current Baroque vault and the bell tower, dated 1719. Restoration was carried out under the direction of M. Christiaens in 1904.
