The Schijn is a tributary in the basin of the Scheldt in the province of Antwerp. It includes two rivers, which converge at the Lobroek dock at the Schijnpoort to flow into the Scheldt as Schijn: the Kleine Schijn and the Grote Schijn.
The area of origin of the Grote Schijn is located in a swampy meadow on the Meirenstraat near the Karel Mintjens furniture factory, halfway between the village church and the Trappist abbey of Westmalle. It continues along and through Zoersel, Oelegem, Schilde, Wijnegem, Wommelgem, Deurne, Borgerhout and Merksem. At Wommelgem, the Koudebeek flows into the river. From Schoten and Wijnegem come the Kleine Schijn, from Schilde the Kleinebeek and the Zwanebeek, from Wommelgem also the Diepenbeek, the Rollebeek and the Dorpsloop.
