Built in 1819 by the last five monks of the Ten Duinen Abbey. The annual pilgrimage to the chapel of the blessed Idesbaldus Van der Gracht, patron of fishermen, farmers, and the Flemish nobility, takes place on the first Monday after April 18 at 1:45 PM. Various municipal and religious organizations are responsible for the organization: the municipal administration, the tourism office, the Society of Blessed Idesbaldus Koksijde, the clergy of Koksijde, the sisters of the Potterie Brugge, and the Confraternity of Blessed Idesbaldus in Brugge. In recent years, the pilgrimage has gathered an average of about five hundred people.
The history of the West Coast in general and Koksijde in particular is intimately linked to the medieval heyday of the Duinen Abbey. Idesbald Van der Gracht was the third Cistercian abbot from 1155 to 1167. On November 13, 1623, monks discovered among the ruins of the chapter hall of the now-destroyed abbey a lead coffin containing the intact body of Idesbald.
