Wooden windmill from the 18th century, from the neighbouring town of Assent and donated by Mr. Felix Alen to city archivist Gilbert van der Linden, who in turn donated the mill to Diest in 1959. On 4 April 1944 it was protected as a monument. It had not been used since 1953, because the miller-owner had set up an electric mill. The Linden Mill used to be called the Mother Mill (founded in 1816). Mother mill was the characteristic name for fat mills. The Linden mill has an abnormally large mill case, which makes it very recognizable. This is the only remaining example with those dimensions, which is why it is certainly worthwhile to keep this mill in the best possible condition. Before 1800, almost all standard mills were built this large. (source: Diest, my city)
