In the 30s of the 20th century, the gondlegger of information science, Paul Otlet, and top architect Le Corbusier submitted a plan for a competition to develop the vacant Left Bank of Antwerp. They made an Antwerp version of their Cité Mondiale. It would contain many high-rise buildings and emphasize the futuristic-international character of Antwerp. The webdstrijd jury consisted of the then fairies Henry Van de Velde and Victor Horta. They didn't like it and the project ended up in the trash.
