Along the shores of these ponds, there is plenty of reeds. Take a good look at a leaf of the reed. Do you notice the bite in the middle of the leaf? This bite is the result of an outburst of anger from the devil. But why was the devil so angry? The story goes as follows: long ago, God and the devil were bored. To combat their boredom, the devil proposed a contest of 'who can create the most beautiful plant.' So said, so done, God and the devil got to work. They both thought long and hard and eventually decided what they would create. God began by making a field of grain, while the devil made a field of reeds. When they were finished, they went to see each other's work. After viewing each other's work, they encountered a problem. They found each other's work equally beautiful, and there had to be a winner. They then decided to appoint a human as a judge. This judge had the same problem; both creations were equally beautiful. But when he really had to choose a winner, he chose God. God's grain could indeed be used as food. The devil was so angry about this decision that he, in his rage, bit into all the leaves of the reeds. This bite is still visible to this day.
