Until a few years ago, the ponds here were still breeding ponds for water plants. After acquisition, the nature association Limburgs Landschap vzw arranged the ponds to create more natural value. The banks of the ponds were made more sloped, and the sludge was removed from the pond bottoms. This has resulted in a small pond complex with marsh zones and natural transitions. Along the banks, broad reed fringes now grow. These reed fringes are very popular with many birds, such as the Bluethroat and the Bittern, for nesting.
