The Dune Forests of De Haan is one of the green gems along the coast. The area consists of three parts and is as large as 152 hectares. You will find both open dune landscapes with the typical fauna and flora of the coast, as well as extensive forested dunes. Special residents of the Dune Forests of De Haan are the protected red wood ants, which can live with as many as 700,000 in one anthill!
