On the left, you see the impressive St. Nicholas parish church with its two copper-green covered towers. The current church, in Renaissance style, was built between 1724 and 1729 according to plans by Mefferdatis from Aachen. The straight tower, with a still clearly visible shooting hole, is the oldest structure in Eupen, built in the Middle Ages. The left bell tower completely burned down in 1949 and was rebuilt in 1952. The interior finish is kept in Baroque to Rococo style, the high altar designed by architect J.J. COUVEN, from Aachen, but crafted in Liège: colorful in conception and covered with marble. Impressive are the sculptures in the carvings of the crowning angel, the Trinity, St. Nicholas, and St. Lambert, as well as the beautifully gilded tabernacle structure and the side altars from 1758, the apostle images from 1640 (acquired in the 19th century from the minor friars' church in Cologne), and especially the uniform design of the church benches with family name altars from Eupen dating back to 1730.
