Decades of gravel mining created several large and deep puddles. As a redevelopment of the area, the map of nature and safety was drawn.
From mid-2008 to August 2009, the entire Negenoord-Kerkeweerd area was excavated with the aim of optimising safety and nature in the area. For example, the summer dike was moved and an inlet and outlet construction was built.
Partly as a result of these works by nv De Scheepvaart, the area has been given optimal opportunities to develop again. In 2013, the Restructuring Committee built the trails and infrastructure in the area.
