Description

At the transition between dry and wet, a richer forest type occurs with typical spring bloomers. These are plants that bloom very early in the spring, before the foliage of the trees takes away the light: clover sorrel, forest anemone, forest violet, valley herb and common salamon seal. The management that Limburgs Landschap vzw conducts in these forests is aimed at diversity and that casts
fruit in the animal world. In sunny glades there are many butterflies, such as the rare small kingfisher butterfly. Where a lot of dead wood is left standing, you can hear or see four types of woodpeckers: the green and the black, the large and the small spotted woodpecker.
