The Baatsbeek

The first tributary of the Itterbeek is the Baatsbeek. The Baatsbeek has its source in the centre of Neerglabbeek and, together with the Itterbeek, was the reason for the naming of this centuries-old village, Gladde Beek. The province of Limburg once bought land along the Baatsbeek and after nature restoration it was given to Limburgs Landschap vzw. In this beautiful part of the valley, if there is no sheep grazing, you can take a look through the folding gate. Just like in the past, you will find hay meadows along the stream that are mowed in the summer and where post-grazing takes place in the autumn. Because there is no fattening here, a large sea of flowers is created here in the spring on which butterflies, bees and other insects find their food.
