A method of yesteryear is coppice management. At that time, for example, a quarter of a plot was cut down to provide wood for heating ovens or to heat the houses. That felled part was left untouched for about 10 years. In this way, the tree stumps were able to sprout again and ten years later they had easily transportable coppice again. By switching between the parts, light-rich forest edges were created in which honeysuckle and willow do well. And let that be the host plants of the small kingfisher butterfly and the large shining butterfly.
