At the end of the 18th century, Drossaerd (judge) Clerckx lived in the Hobos; He brought no fewer than 57 members of the notorious Bokkenrijdersgangde to the scaffold. During my childhood there lived De Heer van 't Hobos, a noble. Our school trip consisted of a walk to 't Hobos and there we were allowed to pick up kilos of chestnuts under the giant chestnut trees. This was a party every year! Now you can walk under the centuries-old trees with a donkey as a guide... and pick chestnuts in autumn!
