On the banks of the Tangebeek the flowers of the Coltsfoot (Petasites hybrides) also called Pestroot or Allemansverdriet.
A deciduous perennial, with a broad growth form and very large, heart-shaped, horse-hoof-like, gray-green leaves, which are white-felted hairy on the underside. The plant blooms from March to April, with pink to lilaroze flowers, in spike-shaped racemes, even before the leaves appear. Petasites Hybridus likes a location in partial shade or shade, but can also handle perfectly full sun in a sufficiently moist soil. The plant is also PH flexible and prefers to grow on the separation of land and water. Coltsfoot is well hardy, attracts bees and insects and has little trouble with diseases or pests.
