The Bosbeek is 24 km long and bridges a height of about 50 m. It rises on the territory of As and then flows to the Meuse via Louwel, Opoeteren, Maaseik and Aldeneik, among others. There are several protected nature reserves in the Bosbeek valley, mainly upstream (near As, Opglabbeek and Neeroeteren). They are swampy and impenetrable forests, which have saved from forestry and agriculture. At various places of the upper reaches of the Bosbeek, the valley can be crossed by roads closed to car traffic.
