The Sint-Michael-Sint-Cornelius and Sint-Ghislenus church is the parish church of Machelen-aan-de-Leie. It is first mentioned in 1163. The interior of the church is among the most beautiful in the region. The large pilgrimage that is organized annually at the beginning of July is known as 'Machelen Gulde'. In the past, 'Machelen Gulde' attracted tens of thousands of pilgrims, but after WWII, the popularity of this pilgrimage drastically declined. It is still a large folk festival, however. Around the church, there is also a beautiful, restored procession path.
