Restored in 1984, this residential tower is an early Gothic square building, in white Gobertange stone, which served as a residence for the local lords. The keep was the seat of a seigneury that depended on the Duke of Brabant. In the past, this keep consisted of a basement, a raised ground floor that formed the actual living area, and a first floor or sleeping area. In 1568 a fire made the residential tower uninhabitable and today only the 2 lower floors are preserved. The Donjon can be visited in the corner of Overhemstraat and Sint Ermelindisstraat in Meldert.
