Until 1798, the chapel of the Castle of Boelare functioned as a parish church; later, Nederboelare relied on Geraardsbergen for religious services. A dedicated parish church was consecrated on September 17, 1972. It is a flat-ceilinged hall church with a free-standing three-sided tower designed by architects E. Leus, P. Gavel (Ghent), and R. Borremans (Geraardsbergen), as noted on a commemorative stone in the hall. The church has been recognized as architectural heritage since September 14, 2009.
