Once upon a time, there were some Wellen friends who loved nature. The Broekbeemd – located between the village centres of Wellen and Herten – was unfortunately not too natural anymore. They grouped together in 't Bokje and ensured that nature association Limburgs Landschap was able to purchase its first plot in 1989. In 2006, the nature reserve underwent a 'one-off development', which led to a beautiful whole of stagnant and flowing water, open marshes, wet grassland, roughs or hems, mantles and forests. In the meantime, almost the entire Broekbeemd and large parts of the Grote Beemd are owned or managed by nature association Limburgs Landschap vzw. Through this Route You walk you will discover what we do where and why!
