Grain Market -- The Grain Market is a typical Gilbert van Schoonbeke project. Gilbert purchased practice grounds from the archery guilds and envisioned a dual economic function for the area. Centrally located within the newly laid-out streets, he designed a square that was to serve as a new grain market, and on the front part of that square, he built the Tapissierspand, a sales hall with small shops, an inn, and storage and living cellars for the carpet traders. The building had an impressive size: 80 x 37 meters!
