Around eight hundred years ago, the current area of Schotenhof and Koningshof belonged to the abbey of Villers. The monastery on Villerslei was a 'branch' of the abbey of Villers-la-Ville (Walloon Brabant). At the end of the 1700s (French Revolution), the monastery was looted and sold publicly. The lands were often divided and changed owners. From 1904, the Schotenhof neighborhood developed around the current Iepenburg. In 1926, "NV Koningshof" purchased former abbey lands for subdivision.
