On the roadside on a slope stands a marker that marks the boundary between the municipalities of Sint-Blasius-Boekel and Elst. Such trees were once planted as a sort of border guard, usually after repeated disputes about the correct location of the border. These markers were a tool for representatives of the legal authority who knew where they could exercise their legal powers, and border conflicts were thus avoided.
