To the south of the village centre of Kapellen is a meadow with thirteen remarkable pollard trees. This higher location is historically known as the Drogeweide. It concerns eight pedunculate oaks (Quercus robur), and two pollard willows (Salix sp.) along the Bergeveldstraat. These pollard trees are iconic, especially because of their height and representative growth form. The largest pollard oak has a trunk circumference of 3.21 metres measured at a height of 1.50 metres and the largest pollard willow has a height of 2.89 metres. Lower in the meadow are three more pollards.
