The anchorage 'Valleys of the Dyle and Laan south of Leuven' includes the valley of the Dyle upstream from Leuven to the border with Wallonia in Ottenburg, and the valley of the Laan, from its mouth in the Dyle to the language border in Overijse. The anchorage is located along the middle course of the Dyle. In this part, the Dyle is a strongly meandering river with a high base flow. Within the anchorage, the river has been largely left free to find its way through the valley and it still has a largely intact character, which is quite unique in Flanders.
