At the height of a chapel tree on the road to Ulvend, a dirt side road to the southeast leads steeply up the plateau. The road is partly cut and winds between embankments with pollard willow and knotes and meadows. On the plateau, the hollow road turns into a narrow footpath with an open view of the meadows and the Hoeve Op de Eiken. The road follows the edge of the forest of the Broekbos and finally arrives at a farm where it connects to the road to the hamlet of De Plank. This road, which is referred to on historical maps as 'Eyk Weg', connected the large reclamation farm Op-de-Eiken with Sint-Martens-Voeren on the one hand and with De Plank on the other. From the farm hamlet of De Plank there was a connection to the important (grain) transport route Aubel-Margraten.
