Description

No. 1, 2, 3. Former town hall. Imposing building designed by architect A. Dugardijn (Bruges) from 1926: plans designed by architect H. Leborgne (Charleroi) were not executed. Wide house of seven bays and two building sections + left and right lower sections of one bay and two segmental arch doors. Anchored yellow brick construction; bleu stone for plinth, decorative elements, frame constructions, lower sills, and landings. Inspired by the architectural style of the Flemish late Gothic town halls cf. double house façade with central emphasized door in a blocked frame, above which is a bas-relief with a coat of arms held by two lions; slate gable roof with a roof finial and wooden dormers; profiled chimneys; cross-windows recessed in a Bruges bay.
