Mispeldonk owes its name to the farm of the same name. The discovery of a Gallo-Roman well near the farm proves that people have lived here for about 2000 years. The first known mention of the name Mispeldonk dates back to 1330. In the excise book of "Ter ziekenlieden" of Mechelen we read that for this good 'cijns' was paid. In 1484 the farm and its lands were sold to the table of the Holy Spirit of the parish of Saints Peter and Paul in Mechelen. Each parish had its 'table', an institution for the relief of the poor. These institutions were abolished during the French Revolution. They then became public institutions that evolved into what we now know as the Public Centers for Social Welfare. The farm was leased until 1963, the year in which it was sold. The owner converted the farm into a house. Source: Natuurpunt
