Station Heverlee

Station building from the beginning of the 20th century located south of the Lodewijk Engelbertus van Arenbergplein and west of the level crossing on the Naamsesteenweg. The station is located along the line 139 Leuven-Ottignies built by the "Chemins de fer de Louvain à Charleroi" and opened on 12 February 1855. The three stations on this line on Flemish territory are still preserved (Heverlee, Oud-Heverlee and Sint-Joris-Weert). At the end of the 19th century, the State took over several private companies, including the "Grand Central Belge" which was responsible for the Leuven-Charleroi line. After the takeover by the state, several older stations of these private companies were replaced, including the stations of Heverlee and Sint-Joris-Weert. The station building was built according to the type of 1895 and is said to have been built around 1904.
