Former nineteenth-century town hall, now set up as a public library. The building, constructed around 1850 to the design of architect Cordemans, originally included the classrooms of the municipal school; the entrance to the school was located in the left side wall, the entrance to the town hall in the right side wall, see old postcards. After a new school was built behind the town hall at Pastorijstraat 4 in the early twentieth century, the entire complex was repurposed as a town hall and provided with a new entrance centrally located in the current façade. In 1971, it was decided to build a new town hall due to rapid population growth, at Pastorijstraat 21; the old town hall was subsequently fully modernized and set up as a library.
