This building was the former inn Den Heiligen Geest along the Postweg. The Postweg was formerly used by stagecoaches traveling from Brussels via Kester and Bergen to France, passing by this inn. An inn (also: relay and rest stop) originally refers to the place where carriages were provided with fresh horses. The used horses were unhitched to rest. Since this took some time, many inns had a café with an opportunity to eat and drink.
