The fascinating history of the Abbey of Bornem goes back to 1603. In the abbey square, you can see the statue of the founder, the Spanish nobleman Pedro Coloma. The authentic monastic spaces provide a beloved setting for artists. The pride of the abbey is the historical 'show library' from 1872 with about 35,000 valuable works, including manuscripts with miniatures from the thirteenth and fourteenth centuries. Ready for a break? In the charming, walled abbey garden, it is wonderful to have a picnic.
Accessible garden (in dry weather). Limited accessibility indoors. The reception staff is happy to explore the options with you.
