The hall church, built between the ribbon buildings, was designed in 1956 by architect Joseph Willems on behalf of the church committee. It was to replace the provisional church building from 1932 in the Tirinusstraat and be a fully-fledged parish church for the new residential area that had been under development since the interwar period. At this central place in the Special Plan of Construction of the district, the erection of the church was always foreseen.
