Castle Cleydael

Square water castle with trapezoidal lower courtyard on the north side. Located in the valley of the Struysbeek, specifically on an island formed by the splitting of the Vliet, from this point called the Struysbeek. This Struysbeek or Vliet springs from Luythagen (Mortsel) and flows into the Scheldt at Schelle and is usually referred to as Schellevliet. Castle situated in a vast, exceptionally valuable estate to the northwest of the municipality, adjacent to the estate of the castle of Hemiksem. Wooded estate, with a lawn surrounding the castle, enclosed by a hedge with several gates consisting of squared pillars of bluestone with ornamental vases, between which is a wrought-iron gate.
