Description

In 1953, at the request of the city council, the Ostend architect Silvain Smis made the design for the erection of the sanitary beach establishment or "health establishment" on the Zeedijk in Oostduinkerke-Bad, near the Koningin Astridplein. The plans were approved at a meeting of the city council on October 27, 1953 and worked out in detail in 1954-1955. Because of the very limited financial resources of the municipality, which after the Second World War is seen as a "ravaged municipality", financial compensation is requested from the higher authorities.
