Description

The oldest reference to wine in Haspengouw dates from the year 1079 and is about vineyards in the region of Borgloon. In the year 2000, Haspengouwse Wijn received recognition as a quality wine with a controlled designation of origin. In addition to the castle of Genoelselderen, there are other wine producers who are eligible for the controlled designation of origin Haspengouwse Wijn. This led to a growing interest in wine from this region. Currently there are already a dozen vineyards.
