The hamlet nurtures the legend of a character
as strange as she is popular: Sylvie,
the hermit. Arriving in Flobecq-wood without
money or luggage, she supposedly isolated herself in
a small house made of spruce logs
at the top of Mount Rhodes.
She loved the solitude and the nature surrounding her.
Her cabin was spared by the
Germans during the war. In memory of
this woman, the inhabitants of La Houppe rebuilt her hut in the Bois de La Houppe.
Today, the "Sylvie's cabin" welcomes artists.
