The Moervaart is a canal in the north of the Belgian province of East Flanders, and is the man-made middle course of the river Durme. The Moervaart is 22.42 km long and connects the Ghent-Terneuzen Canal with the Durme. The canal has little economic significance today and is only used by recreational boating. This waterway runs through Gent via Mendonk, through Wachtebeke, and in the Waasland through Moerbeke-Waas and Lokeren. Via the Stekense Vaart, the Moervaart connects with Stekene. The valley of the Moervaart is protected at the European level as part of the Natura 2000 area 'Forests and Heaths of Sandy Flanders: eastern part'.
