The castle of Hoyoux - once the hunting lodge of the Prince-Bishop of Liège - was built in the 15th century. Since 1975, the estate has been owned by Baron Berghmans. In addition to a central residence, there is a farm with private homes. The ponds and the small river complete the romantic picture. This place is unknown but oh so beautiful! The Hoyoux – the fastest flowing river in Belgium – has provided employment for thousands of people for centuries. The stream had quite a few advantages. Not only did the water flow very quickly (ideal for powering the blades of watermills), but the water was also exceptionally pure (essential for the production of paper).
