The story of homegrown begins on the 40th wedding anniversary of Jos and Ria. The couple is from Duffel (Antwerp). Just after her wedding, Ria inherited a farm in 'Wietschoate' and the couple moved to West Flanders. This farm serves as the home base for Jos and Ria in the series. You see, among other things, the scene where Frank comes home with Julita, after which Ria storms outside to welcome her, and the scene where Ria is playing cards with Chantal Vantomme, a police officer and family friend, who enjoys visiting for a cup of coffee with cookies.
