Between 's Hertogenbosch and Maastricht there is a large difference in level that has to be made up for by 20 locks.
Two of these locks, 17 and 18, are located on Bocholt's territory. Together they have to make up for a decay of 5m.
Unfortunately, the old drawbridge has disappeared. A modern bridge now ensures that the waiting times for road traffic are limited to a few minutes (source: Teutenroute, published by Toerisme Limburg vzw).
