Natural gas pipeline
Around 1970, two pipelines were built across the De Liereman landscape to transport natural gas to France. The route is clearly visible in the landscape because no tall trees are allowed to grow above the pipes. Where the vegetation is kept open, the heath is preserved. In the dry places shrubhei thrives and in the wet places mainly ordinary dophei occurs. On the transitions, such as here, you can find both species together. On the more nutrient-rich zones there are reed collars.
