The 18th-century farmhouse, which is located on the other side of the street, must have been reserved by the lords of Rode to house the meier of Schelderode, Makegem, Munte and Bottelare. Presumably the street - and also the district - derive their name 'Meierij' from this. Initially, the farm was 10 bunder in size, of which 4 bunder were located on the territory of Schelderode and 6 bunder on the territory of Melsen. The last meier to inhabit it was Ferdinand Huys, also a farmer and the sexton of Schelderode.
The farm was originally completely walled. This wall was gradually filled in over time. The barn and the storage are still original, the house made for a new house.
