The Castle of Binderveld is a castle at Molenstraat 31 in Binderveld in the province of Limburg. The oldest known lord was Olderic van Bilrevelt, who received the fief in 1135. From 1251-1371 it was in the possession of the Van Montenaken family; in the 15th century of the Van Hamal family; from 1525 to the Van Grevenbroek family, and by marriage in 1534 it came to the Van Copis family. Hieronymus Van Copis died in 1721 and his widow, Joanna Isabella Clara de Coloma, remarried in 1722 to Jozef Le Roy, giving the fief to the Le Roy family. Joanna died in 1741. Joseph remarried in 1742 to Elizabeth Arrazola de Oñate, who inherited the castle from her husband in 1766. When she died in 1788, the castle came into the possession of Joanna Arrazola de Oñate, who was a niece of Elisabeth. In 1791 she married Hubert de Succa. But Joanna died in 1795 in childbirth to Louis de Succa. He now inherited the castle, but no longer possessed any seigneurial rights. In 1826 the castle, with the chapel, was sold by Louis de Succa to landowner Joseph Antoine de Schrynmakers, married to Marie Françoise Leynen, who both took up residence at Binderveld and lived there until their death. From 1956 it was owned by the Ballet family. It then came into the possession of notary Baudouin Verelst, who had it restored to its original style, including the restoration of the moat.
