The Vijverbroek is a nature reserve north of Kessenich, in the vicinity of Neeritter, Ittervoort and Thorn. The area is part of the River Park Maasvallei and is delineated on three sides by the Belgian-Dutch border.
The area is approximately 150 ha and includes a 1.8 ha large alder pants, making it the largest and one of the most intact alder trouser forests in Flanders. In addition to alder forest, swamps, floats, trouser forest, coppice forest on a steep edge, fields, meadows, pools, willow bush, wood edges and reed beds also occur in the area. The site is European protected as part of Natura 2000 site).
