As Pascal Verbeken describes in his book Brutopia, Het Rad is an open-air museum of a century of social housing, or a red Bokrijk. In Duivenmelkersstraat, you will find the first precursors of the garden suburb. Narrowly designed row houses from the year 1907. Later, the houses became slightly larger, but in the 1930s, 50s, and 70s, they switched to apartments because the costs of the garden subdivisions turned out to be too expensive.
