The Thure is a small river that originates north of the village of Grandrieu, in the western Condroz region. It flows through a small part of the Nord department before reappearing in Belgian territory in the municipality of Erquelinnes, where it merges with the Sambre at the Solre mill. Its course is primarily oriented south-north. The section of the valley located in Bersillies-l'Abbaye presents several interesting habitats: wet meadows, ponds, alder riparian galleries, etc. The site is home to several species of amphibians, including the threatened crested newt (Triturus cristatus). The common kingfisher (Alcedo atthis) is regularly observed along the river, and less frequently the dipper (Cinclus cinclus). Two small plots named "Champs de Neutremont" are owned by the RNOB Nature Reserves, while the rest of the area is included in a Natura 2000 site.
